                                          THE SYNOPSIS OF THE CHANGE-UP

Dave Lockwood (Jason Bateman) and Mitch Planko (Ryan Reynolds) are close friends who were each jealous of the other’s lifestyle. While Dave was a lawyer with a wife and kids, Mitch was a freewheeling actor who has sex with different women. After getting drunk at a bar, Mitch and Dave urinate in a park’s fountain, and simultaneously wish that they had each other’s lives.

One day in the morning, Mitch and Dave realized they had switched bodies. Mitch remembered the wish they made the night before and they drive back to the park, planning to urinate again in the fountain and wish for their original lives back, but found the fountain had been removed for restorations. Forced to wait a few days until the parks department could located the fountain, Mitch and Dave agree to pretend to be each other for the day. When Mitch arrived at Dave’s law office, he befriends Dave’s attractive assistant, Sabrina McKay (Olivia Wilde). However, Mitch’s lack of professionalism and legal knowledge cause a big merger to fall through. Meanwhile, Dave arrived at Mitch’s film shoot to discover that it is a porno. Tired of pretending to be Mitch, Dave had them go back to his house to tell his wife Jamie (Leslie Mann) the truth, but Jamie did not believe him. Dave gave Mitch advice on how to behave professionally and Mitch sets Dave up on a date with Sabrina, who Dave has had a crush on.

After talking with his father, Mitch wanted to do Daves’ activities, from taking care of the kids, bought groceries and to make decisions at the office. On the night of her daughter ballet recital, Cara was pushed by her friend, but she remembered Daves’ suggestion and slammed her friend back.

The next day, Dave decided to take advantage of being Mitch. Dave did something that made him relax. Dave went to an Aquarium and watched the show of National Lampoon’s Animal House at the theater. After Dave finished having fun, he called Mitch to help show him how to act fun on his date with Sabrina that night. Sabrina came to meet him at a classy restaurant and they went to applies to make a tattoo. Jamie asked Dave about their anniversary party and he asked why Mitch was not invited. He said that he did not invite Mitch because he did not want Mitch to make a problem in their party. Meanwhile, Dave got call from the woman in District Manager’s office about the location of the fountain statue. Dave went to meet Mitch and told him.

The following day, Mitch goes with the rest of the representatives to the new merger meeting between the two firms. The Japanese representatives only offer $625 million to merge, $75 million short of their hoped for $700 million. He told to the moderator to tell the firms they demand $725 million and had Dave’s firm’s representatives started to leave. They successfully scared the other firm into agree and celebrate. Mitch and Dave’s family went to a gala that held by Dave’s firm. Meanwhile, Dave and Sabrina were at a baseball game and they decided to go to Mitch’s house. Back at the gala, Steel was gave his speech about the amazing accomplishments Dave made over the years, and how the only thing he loves more than the law was his family. Mitch said to himself that he did not earn the title he was getting, as Dave quickly drive up to the gala and kissed Jamie. He told her that he loves her. Dave and Mitch drive to the Peachtree Galleria, where the fountain was moved. They run in, planning to urinate in the fountain, but found it located in the center of the Galleria, where they surrounded by the people. They decided not to wait and do that, but Mitch ashamed to urinate at that place. Mitch asked why Dave did not invite him to his anniversary party, and Dave admits that he was ashamed of him, but has grown to respect him while he was in his body and this allows Mitch to relax enough to be able to urinate. Mitch and Dave tried wishing for their lives back, but it was not success. Security began came to arrest them, and they both run away. The people confused look around, and the camera pans up to the face of the statue, once again smiling.

In the epilogue, Dave is awoken by his babies crying that night, thrilled to realize that he had finally returned in his original body. Dave kissed Jamie and happily went to change the babies. At his home, Mitch awakens to enthusiastically admire himself and happily get breakfast with Sabrina, not realized that the tattoo Dave got is a picture of his face on Mitch’s back with the entitle “I ♥ Dave”. Mitch went to his father’s wedding and later attends Dave’s anniversary a month later.

The setting of time in this drama is at night in a park’s fountain when Mitch and Dave urinate in a park’s fountain, and simultaneously wish that they had each other’s lives. In the morning Dave to take care his twins’ kids and in the afternoon Dave always busy with his worked.

• The theme of the drama is bored with their life. So Dave and Mitch want to vice versa life. It causes they bored with their life because it was hard for them. But finally, they realized that they like their life.

• The description:

o  Rising Action: After getting drunk at a bar, Mitch and Dave urinate in a park’s fountain, and simultaneously wish that they had each other’s lives and in the morning, Dave and Mitch realized they had switched bodies.

o  Climax: Mitch and Dave remembered the wish they made the night before and they drive back to the park, planning to urinate again in the fountain and wish for their life back, but found the fountain had been removed for restorations.

• The players of this drama are really good. They can play every character and deliver the message of this drama from their acting. This drama is good as well and very funny; however, this drama is too much negative side. If this drama can shows the drama comedy more than the negative side, I think all of the people like this drama.
